Douglas Vanderbilt, MD, MS, Associate Director, CA-LEND

Dr. Vanderbilt is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Keck School of Medicine and Occupational Science/Occupational Therapy at University of Southern California. He completed his Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) fellowship and a faculty position at Boston University focusing his research work on the interrelationship of traumatic stress symptoms with physical health symptoms and neonatal intensive care unit. At USC and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, he attained a KL2 Mentored Career Development Award to study the outcomes of High-Risk Infants. He obtained two MCHB grants for the California Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (CA-LEND) and DBP training programs. As ACGME DBP fellowship director, he has graduated 4 DBP fellows and is partnering across the Los Angeles basin to engage collaboratively with Los Angeles County + USC and the UCLA Medical Center’s DBP training programs. As the medical director of the High Risk Infant (HRI) follow-up clinic in the Center for Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, he has led the effort to bring an interdisciplinary team of nutrition, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, psychology, and social work staff together to the parent-infant relationship. He was recently named Associate Director of the USC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities for his work on the CA-LEND program.
